Heroic Tarot became a San Francisco sensation, winning multiple awards in the process, by combining the X-Men with traditional Tarot concepts. Today, I am excited to announce the debut of Batman Tarot!

“I find it inspiring to actively choose which traditions to celebrate and also come up with new ideas for traditions of my own.” ~Sara Sheridan
Whether it’s a birthday party, a baby shower, a company picnic, or a Halloween gala, there are many reasons to celebrate! We come together to honor our communities and traditions. Make Heroic Tarot a part of your tradition! Tarot strengthens our relationship with ourselves and our loved ones.
At events, readings are robust and concise in order to accommodate as many people as possible. Heroic Tarot readings will give your attendees something to talk about at the party and for weeks to come!
Happy September, dear reader! This month Heroic Tarot celebrates the wisdom of sacred animals in the Druid tradition with the The Druid Animal Oracle. Created by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm, this deck invokes the Celtic shamanic traditions of working with animal energy as guides and totems. The authors present many different ways to work with the animal guides in the inner and outer worlds. What can an oracle do for you?
“Nothing can be truer than fairy wisdom. It is as true as sunbeams.” ~Douglas Jerrold
This month Heroic Tarot celebrates the wisdom of the fae as found in the divination decks of Brian Froud! Famed conceptual designer and costume designer for the films Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, as well as artist for The Faeries’ Oracle and The Heart of Faerie, writes that “the connection with the faeries is wonderful because it gives us an opportunity to experience the world in an open and connected way.” Froud believes that “there is great wisdom to be gained if we allow them to turn our prejudices and preconceptions upside down.” Heroic Tarot is proud to include them in readings with traditional Tarot cards and the X-Men superhero deck.
“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.” ~Tahereh Mafi
This July, Heroic Tarot dances with the Moon, herald of mystery and change, bringer of messages through dreams and visions, and ruler of the subconscious! When it appears in a reading, it is time to turn away from external concerns and go within for deep contemplation. Rachel Pollack, in her book Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom writes,
“He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
This month, Heroic Tarot dispels the darkness around the Devil! This Major Arcana card is ruled by Capricorn and represents creating boundaries and limitations in your life. In Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom, Rachel Pollack explains:
The Devil can indicate a narrow materialistic view of life; it can mean any form of misery or depression, especially feeling chained or imprisoned, with the illusion that no alternatives are possible.
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
It’s Adventure Time! This May we shine the spotlight on the dynamic Knight of Wands as he gallops into our lives with power and direction. All of the Knights in the Tarot are characterized as pure energy and are devoted to courage and and purpose. Like all Court cards, the Knights can represent an aspect of our selves as well as someone else in our lives. See if you can recognize our featured fiery defender in the mirror or in your environment. This person or aspect is willing to take risks, emanates creative vigor, and is ready to begin their adventures.
“Truth without love is brutality, and love without truth is hypocrisy.” ~Warren W. Wiersbe
This month we celebrate the clear thinking of the King of Swords! In order to receive his message, keep in mind that all Kings in the Tarot depict mastery and authority in their suit and in this instance that is Air. Kings establish tradition and sustainability and can represent both yourself and another person in a reading. We do not need to limit our definition of the Kings as solely male either. Often Kings may depict anyone who is “fathering” things into a space of security and established rules.
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” ~Rumi
Do you ever feel like you are in the eye of a hurricane while everyone and everything else is spinning around you? How do find composure within that chaos? The Temperance card of the Tarot holds the key to moderation, reminding us of our vitality and how to balance our mental, physical and emotional well-being. In the image above (drawn by Pamela Colman Smith), we see Raphael, the angel of healing. He stands with one foot in the water and one foot on the shore, illustrating his bridge-building capabilities. He is literally dancing between worlds. He pours water from one cup into another and back again as a symbol of his emotional equilibrium. He releases his feelings in accordance with the other elements in his life and recombines them over and over again to find a new heart-based response. Temperance teaches us to travel the middle road in order to avoid extremes. It is a blending of two ideas or materials into a new form. This is alchemy and it requires optimism, enthusiasm and confidence.
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ~ Laozi
