I was recently inspired to create artwork based on the Two of Cups for a dear friend. I’ve long held an affinity for mermaids and sirens and my friend strongly identifies with the woodland satyr. I wanted to have these magical creatures of the ocean and forest meet one another halfway, toasting their love and affection for one another. I based my design on the Two of Cups from the classic Rider-Waite deck as designed by Pamela Colman Smith. This card traditionally represents romance, and also the attributes of balance, joy and friendship. The artwork is pen and ink on Bristol board.
This piece was beautifully framed by the talented designers at Capricorn Framing. If you live in San Francisco be sure to give them a visit. They have exquisite taste!
