5 Tarot Cards to Help You Make Peace with Your Monster

We all have “monsters” or inner demons that keep us from actualizing our potentials.  It can be a daily struggle to handle these negative thought patterns and belief systems in a productive manner.  How do we keep the light on our paths?  I have compiled a list of five Tarot cards whose messages could help you actualize your dreams!

1.  The Tower:  Breakdown Old Structures

Instead of labeling the people, events and situations as either “good” or “bad,” consider focusing on what is working and what is not working.  The Tower is the archetypal force in our lives that breaks down old structures so we can build anew.  It is radical change that will help you break through your fears.  See the fear as a catalyst instead of a paralysis.  Be a lightning rod for a new insight!

2.  The Fool:  Start a New Project

The Fool is never afraid because he has never learned to fear.  Sound impossible?  Before you leap into your new adventure, clear your thoughts.  Zen teacher Shunryu Suzuki says, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are few.”  Try something new because it interests you and see where it takes you.  Do your best to let go of the outcome and you will open the door to possibilities!

3.  10 of Swords:  Release Martyrdom

You are not a victim.  You are not alone.  You can save yourself.  The 10 of Swords teaches us that depression is a symptom, not a disease.  The sun is rising to shed light on your situation.  Perhaps things are not as bad as they seem.  In any event, we decide when enough is enough.  When you are done cursing fate, renew your commitment to your path.  Release any attachment to suffering and rejoice in your existence!

4.  Strength:  Show Loving Kindness

The Strength card shows an enchantress holding the head of a lion.  As the King of the Beasts, he represents any aspects of herself she finds ugly or ungainly.  He allows her to hold him because she has embraced her own “beasts”.  She is the archetype who teaches us loving kindness.  She treats herself and others with compassion.  There is good inherent in all things if we take the time to look.  We are all connected.  Give you what you want to receive in order to have it returned to you!

5.  Queen of Cups:  Honor Your Feelings

We do not create emotions, we allow them to flow through us.  The Queen of Cups is the aspect of yourself or person in your life who is a counselor.  We all possess intuitive and nurturing qualities.  Can you see how your thoughts affect your feelings? Are you listening to your heart?  Only love gives meaning to our actions and helps us manifest our dreams.  If you are a counselor for others, give your feelings the same attention.  If you feel unheard or require a witness for your life, look for a counselor to assist you!
