Storm Sunday: Brent Anderson, Part II

Brent Anderson Storm

Greetings, dear reader!  Today we celebrate the artwork of Brent Anderson!  We have looked at this amazing artist’s work before, but once I discovered these original art pencils, I had to give him another spotlight! Check out the above sketch and marvel at the manner in which Anderson gives Ororo’s costume depth and texture!  The tiara is spot on and Storm’s hair is a whirlwind of wonder! “Brewin’ up a storm,” indeed!

The gang’s all here in this double page spread of the X-Men!  The billowing folds of Storm’s cape threaten to engulf her teammates, but I have to give Anderson props for taking such artistic license with her costume.  After all, aren’t all the uniforms of Marvel super-heroes made of unstable molecules?! Anderson’s rendition of my favorite mutants is both realistic and fantastic, a feat not many artists can match.  Superb work.  From left to right, we have Storm, Angel, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Magik, Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Colossus (standing taller than everyone else), Cyclops, Beast (above), and Professor X.

  1. I think John Byrne was the last person I ever saw go that crazy with Storm’s cape.

    I LOVE IT.

I’m also kind of digging the team lineup depicted here. ^_^ Except…

    …is Beast naked?
