Stumptown Bound! And What’s Up With These “Dark X-Men”?

Hello, dear readers, I am off to Portland for the first time to experience the wonders of Stumptown! (Google it, I have not the time to link as I am waiting for my plane shuttle as I type). I will not unable to post until I return early next week! I will take notes, however, and will transcribe for your amusement/edification/entertainment at a later date!

Until then! Keep rocking the comics!

In the meantime, check out this X-Men tease and if you feel led, please comment on what you think about it. I’d love to know your opinions on this bold direction Marvel is taking (laughs).darkxmenSpoiler:  The winged guy is not Angel.  Think back, way back to the original 5 and you might recognize that big M and remember the guy who had all the powers of Angel, Beast, Cyclops. Marvel Girl and Iceman combined: MIMIC! (Yes, you’ll have to Google him on your own too, my apologies!)

I honestly kind of hope they do fuck up Emma somehow just so I can have an excuse to drop all my X-Men books again, it feels like I’m buying way too much X-Crap right now anyway.

And can I just say how much I’ve grown to hate the whole “OH NOES Emma has gone evil again!” tease that every single writer who touches her (Morrison, Claremont, Whedon, Pak, Bendis and now Fraction) feels compelled to recycle? I mean, at this point she’s been affiliated with Xavier and the X-Men (1994-2009, 15 years) for at least as long if not longer than she was a villain with the Hellfire Club (1980-1991, 11 years). Plus if they made her a villain again then all the good work done with her recently by the likes of Morrison and Whedon and Ellis would seem like such a waste, so you know they’re not actually going to follow through with this latest empty threat and throw that all away anyway.

On the plus side, as always the Dodsons give amazing Emma. Although I can’t say the black outfit especially suits her. She’s all covered up and stuff, just barely showing a hint of cleavage and a little navel like some dowdy old maid or something. In fact I’m almost starting to think that might not even be Emma at all. I mean, there’s whatshisname standing right beside her posing as “Wolverine”. Who’s to say that’s not one of the remaining Stepford Cuckoos or something?

I guess I had a little more to say on the subject than I thought. 🙂
