Skrull Storm Sighting: Black Panther #41

While perusing the Marvel Comics solicitations for September 2008 on Comic Book Resources, I came across this little gem from Black Panther #41. (A Secret Invasion tie in, natch) Needless to say it isn’t for the faint of heart . Guh-ross.  Skrulls look kinda like grown up Gremlins, don’t they?

The solicitation paragraph reads:

BLACK PANTHER #41
Written by JASON AARON
Penciled by JEFTE PALO
Cover by JASON PEARSON
A SECRET INVASION TIE-IN!
“SEE WAKANDA AND DIE,” PART 3
The war for Wakanda comes to its brutal conclusion. With Storm and the Black Panther both prisoners of the Skrull invaders, is all hope lost for the people of Wakanda? Or does their king still have one last trick up his sleeve?

I’m very much of the opinion that there are still quite a few surprises that the ever resourceful King of Wakanda still has primed to spring on the Skrulls.

Anybody else notice the absence of the Royal Fam? The sudden extended absence of Photon? BP is exactly the kinda guy to have a secret superforce inclusive of the often hinted at Wakandan mutants that the Royal Fam and Zuri and Photon (and Storm?) would lead at the last moment in a daring offensive right when the Skrulls think they have the victory or have seemingly overrun the entire country and seemingly solidified Skrull supremacy. That’s when they’re most vulnerable and that’s when the narrative has the most bang for your buck; it’s then that the story is most fraught with tension and drama.

Or BP won’t come into his own until his book picks back up after Storm’s mini is over.

Thanks for such a lengthy post!

I would love to see a task force comprised of the folks you mentioned spring an attack now that things look bleak for our heroes of Wakanda. I have faith in Jason Aaron’s writing that the ending will be spectacular! And I really dig the use of Photon in this series. Monica deserves the spotlight for sure!

I am curious about how Storm’s mini-series will leave things between her and her husband and her teammates. Any character exploration is welcome (and frankly, badly needed at this point).

Also, I’m kinda over Skrulls now.
